Summer Funding!

Jobs were lined up and lots of hours were going to be wasted away at other places other than my office when I received an email today notifying me that I would get summer funding from CISAB! Thank you CISAB steering committee. I love you. Really I do. I hope I don't let you down.

Heater....

Oh man. The heater in the white house (where I live) is broken. It all started Monday night when I came home at 10:30 after a grand performance at the auditorium. I was excited and then it was quickly destroyed after entering the house when I noticed a sulfur-like smell. Something was terribly wrong and at first I thought it was a gas leak. So who do I call first? Drew, of course. He owns the house and lives within a very short distance (walking) of the white house. No answer. Next person to call of course is mom. Mom freaks out and tells me to run out of the house and call 911. I looked around and saw both cats inside and a pile of file folders. The next thing I did will sound somewhat neurotic. I grabbed both cats and my important file folders containing a lot of work for my dissertation and threw them in my car. My mom is telling me not to worry about this...and then I went back in to grab the computer. Ok all the important items are now in my car. I tried to call Drew again and now the phone is off the hook. My mom and I decide that I should go to his house and ring the doorbell. Since apparently no one uses the front door, I had to climb over lots of overgrown bushes and make my way to the doorbell which I had to persistently ring because no one would come and answer the door. Time: 11:00 PM. The Drew answers the door and looks pissed and asks what I need. After telling him about the house, he comes down to investigate. Something electrical happened...long story short: no one was staying at the house and everything was shut down. We have had some people come out and work on the heater and we aren't really sure what is going on, but one thing is for sure: no heat for awhile. I just need to make it to Monday because then I go to Wasserman's house for a week to watch his house and dogs. Needless to say I have been at the gym and the lab for as long as I can stand it until I have to go home. At least the low is in the 20s for the rest of the nights...helps a bit to have warmer weather.
