So I have had a lot of research assistants in the past 4 years and they probably think I'm some uptight, exhausted, mean spirited graduate student that makes them work too much. So one of my ras, sweet Molly, who I have been working with for an entire year decided to go back to Chicago for the summer. I told her she needed to find any lab to get more experience and she has been working for one of my favorite researchers at University of Chicago. So today I was chatting with Molly and asking her about her experience. Really, I wanted to know: how bad did I do training you? Since we use this researchers definitions, I knew that I was bound to make a mistake and I basically run the infant lab here, so it might be crap shoot. And she told me that the lab at UC was crazy and that she was so thankful for me teaching her so much and that she was so appreciative of how we run the lab here and for using Elan (apparently they still use Excel!!). That brought a smile to my face. Ahhh I am doing something right... We will see if this holds true when I meet with my committee for the proposal. I'm basically scared. I'll let you know if I pass. EWK!
