Spending money at IU

Best way to spend money at IU? Build an addition on the stadium!!! IU plays like my high school football team and since they are winners, we definitely need to spend a lot of money to improve our stadium. I get so pissed looking at this thing everyday when I drive in that I had to take a picture last week just to capture the craziness. Spend it on research and academic-that is what you are known for-definitely not for a winning football team.

Week 2

I'm done coding study 2!!! Only two more studies to code and then I can start analyzing and writing (which sadly/luckily won't take me as long as coding). I'm excited-I finished a week early and still managed to help run subjects and run my own! What a week! I'm exhausted-time to go out with the girls and get some drinks!

Next goal: finish study 3 in 10 days. I only have 40 tapes and only have to code vocalizations and caregiver responses. While this may seem like a lot of work, it really isn't even in the same league (as Drew would say) as my other study. This will be a piece of cake-9 month old babbling and caregiver responses!! Coding 4 tapes in a 10 hour span-no problem.

Week 1

Well the first week of summer is down and I was really productive. 21 passes were completed-only 19 more to go for the first study and I'll be a week ahead of schedule. The only thing that might interfere with the coding are the 17 subjects we have scheduled. (!!!!) It is definitely going to be a long week. It will be a miracle if everything goes as planned and everyone comes in. Here's to the second week of coding. FYI-I might be getting sick (and going blind) of coding caregiver responses to infant attention.

Dissertation: 12 more months to go!

Well its the summer and my only goal is to get all of my coding for my dissertation completed. This is a huge task as there are about 100+ tapes to code (with multiple behaviors of course), but have no fear, I will get it done! The biggest driving force for me getting all this coding done are my advisors. I won't get into here but I'm convinced after 4 years of being in their lab that the best thing for me to do is graduate. Don't get me wrong, I love my research and I love my committee. But now I understand the history-its all about understanding the history for the present.

Goal: finish coding the 4 studies...I'm sure the one person following this blog will be on pins and needles following my coding action. No worries-I'll update you. I am almost done coding this one study-only 25 more passes (out of the 240 total passes for this study) are left! I'm excited! I should be done by the end of next week.

Oh and while I don't care about grades, I did get an A in statistical consulting this semester! I'm excited and needed that in case I actually have to go into statistics for my career. Maybe I'll take it again next year, I really like the professor-a cool and hippie chick.
